OOI CI Preliminary Internal Final Design Review

This would be the first dry run for the CI IO for the November FDR.

We are actually just checking to see if the Synthesis Center is available. Not sure if we will use it. We will also need to know if you will charge us for 2 half days - or a single full day.

UC Discovery Fellows Symposium

As part of the UC Office of the President program, UC Discovery Fellows, an immersion seminar is planned every year here at UC San Diego, with quarterly retreats taking place at other UC campuses. This year, as part of the immersion seminar, it has been requested by the UC Discovery Grant people at OP, if we could hold a mini-symposium at the synthesis center for aproximately 50 persons, therefore the request. We would also like to inquire if there is any space outside the center where we could hold a reception afterwards.

Metagenomics 2008

Metagenomics 2008 will provide invaluable opportunities to discuss and accelerate the implementation of metagenomic research. The conference will include research in microbial ecology, genomics and evolution, bioinformatics, and biogeochemistry. It will also delve into research on multiple organisms interacting with each other and their environment, namely, ecological genomics, population/community genomics and environmental genomics.

More than 180 people from 12 countries will participate in this conference to discuss current progress in metagenomics and related fields. The conference features two keynotes and five plenary sessions, as well as 5 forty-minute breakout workshops, three parallel technical sessions and a dual two-hour poster sessions.
